A small Piper Cherokee with four aboard made an emergency landing Monday at Otis Air National Guard Base in Bourne after a part broke off the airplane and cracked its windshield.
The Boston Globe reported that the plane landed safely at 12:55 p.m. on Runway Five with no injuries.
The plane is registered to Daniel G. Gauvin of Newport, Vt. He could not be reached for comment.
The Piper PA-28 Cherokee is a family of light aircraft designed for pilot training, air taxi, and personal/general aviation use. It is an all-metal, unpressurized airplane powered by a single piston engine. More than 30,000 have been built.
