In always dramatic fashion, an F/A-18 lands aboard the USS Eisenhower in the Arabian Gulf. The F/A-18 is the primary fighter and attack jet for the U.S. Navy. The A/B/C/D variants are used in both air-to-air fighter roles and for ground attack. The newer, larger F/A-18E/F “Super Hornet” variants are more advanced and continue the multirole mission of the airplane.
The “Super Hornet” entered service in 1999 and had replaced the F-14 “Tomcat” upon its 2006 retirement.
