If you’ve had enough Mars coverage for one year, tune to a great feature in PCWorld about the next generation of satellites.
This year, NASA’s “PhoneSat” program will send several Google Nexus One–controlled mini-satellites into space, doing proof-of-concept tests that could result in smaller and much cheaper satellites in the future.
Each satellite will be packed into a 10-by-10-by-10-cm cube that will weigh about 4 lbs.
